Bag Packaging Printing Methods
1. Traditional Ink-Based Printing
Silkscreen Print
How it works: Ink is pressed through a mesh screen onto the material.
Best for: Simple logos, text-based designs, and single-color graphics. It is highly cost-effective for large quantities and works on most fabric bags (non-woven, cotton, canvas).
Gravure Print
How it works: A design is engraved onto a cylinder, which then transfers the ink to the material.
Best for: High-volume production. It offers exceptional color consistency and detail, making it ideal for laminated bags and complex, high-resolution graphics.
Offset Print
How it works: Ink is transferred from a plate to a rubber blanket and then to the surface.
Best for: Paper packaging. It provides crisp, sharp image quality and is the industry standard for high-end printed paper shopping bags and boxes.
2. High-Color & Advanced Techniques
Transfer Print
How it works: Designs are printed onto a transfer film and then heat-pressed onto the bag.
Best for: Multi-color designs and intricate patterns that are difficult to achieve with standard silkscreening.
Thermal Sublimation Transfer Print
How it works: Heat turns the ink into gas, which then bonds permanently with the fabric fibers.
Best for: Synthetic materials (like PET bags). The result is soft-to-the-touch, incredibly durable, and photo-realistic in quality.
Digital Print
How it works: Like a standard high-end office printer, but for packaging. No printing plates are required.
Best for: Small batch orders, prototypes, or fully customized designs where flexibility and speed are priorities.
UV Print
How it works: Uses ultraviolet light to instantly cure (dry) the ink as it is printed.
Best for: High precision and vivid colors. The process is very fast, and the ink is resistant to fading and scratching.
3. Decorative & Specialized Finishing
Hot Foil Stamping
How it works: A heated metal die presses metallic or colored foil onto the bag surface.
Best for: Adding a luxurious, premium feel. It is frequently used for brand logos on gift bags and rigid boxes to create a shimmering, eye-catching effect.
Embroidery
How it works: Designs are stitched directly into the fabric using thread.
Best for: A high-end, tactile, and classic appearance. It is commonly used for premium canvas, cotton, or velvet drawstring bags.
